What injectables cover
Injectables at a med spa usually fall into two groups. Wrinkle relaxers are a purified protein injected in small amounts into specific facial muscles. Dermal fillers are gels, many based on hyaluronic acid, placed under the skin in chosen areas.
Both are given by licensed providers where state law allows. Who may inject is set by state rules, so in Michigan the provider might be a physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant or registered nurse, depending on those rules and any supervision they require.
A consultation comes first. The provider asks about your health and what you want to discuss, and decides what is suitable.
Things to tell an injector up front
Some details change what an injector will suggest, so mention them early:
- any injectables you have had before, with dates if you know them
- any reaction you had, even a mild one
- dental work or vaccines coming up soon
- recent illness or a skin infection near the area
- a big event in the next few weeks
- pregnancy, plans to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
A licensed provider uses this to decide what is suitable and when. Injectables are given by licensed providers where state law allows, under Michigan rules on who may inject.
What to write down first
If you are thinking about injectables, start by writing down what you want to ask about in plain words. Something like a line you notice when you frown, or a question about the lips. You do not need product names.
Then add your health basics: conditions, allergies, medicines, supplements, and pregnancy or breastfeeding. Finally, list past injectables and any reactions.
When you send a consultation request, the first part is enough. Save health details for the consultation itself, where a licensed provider can ask follow-up questions.
Questions about injectables
Does this site inject anyone?
No. This site is not a clinic and has no providers. It passes your consultation request to a local provider in or near Detroit. Any injectable is given by a licensed provider where state law allows, after a consultation where they decide what is suitable.
Can I have injectables while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Most providers do not give wrinkle relaxers or dermal fillers during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If either applies, or you are planning a pregnancy, tell the provider at the start of the consultation. They will decide what is suitable, which may mean waiting.
What side effects are possible?
Bruising, swelling and tenderness where the injection was given are commonly discussed, and less common complications exist too. Ask the provider to explain the side effects for the specific product, how they would handle a complication, and who to contact afterward. For anything that worries you, see a doctor.
